Acupuncture for Stress, Sleep & Pain
A starting point for discussing your goals, understanding the limits of complementary care and choosing the right appointment.
Start with your goals
When stress, disrupted sleep or ongoing discomfort brings you to an acupuncture clinic, it helps to describe how the problem affects daily life. What is harder to do? What has already been assessed? What would meaningful progress look like to you? Bumblebee AcuTherapy offers individualized adult Japanese acupuncture in Lakewood.
This is a navigation guide, not a diagnosis or a promise that one treatment will resolve several different conditions. Your medical history, preferences and existing care matter when deciding whether acupuncture belongs in your plan.

Stress and day-to-day wellbeing
Tell your practitioner about the pressures affecting you, any mental-health support you receive and what feels comfortable during a visit. An acupuncture appointment is not a replacement for psychotherapy, prescribed treatment or urgent mental-health care.
Sleep concerns
Bring a clear account of your sleep pattern and how it affects your daytime activities. Persistent sleep problems can have different causes. Ask your medical provider what assessment is appropriate before assuming they are simply stress-related.
Pain and physical comfort
Identify where discomfort occurs, how long it has been present and which activities are affected. Share any diagnosis, previous treatment and restrictions. The NCCIH acupuncture overview reviews evidence and safety; research findings differ by condition and do not guarantee an individual outcome.
Questions about moxibustion
Some visitors also want to understand the clinic’s use of moxa. Read the moxibustion service page and ask about the proposed technique, heat, smoke and suitability before agreeing to treatment.
Prepare for your first appointment
- Write down your main concern and one or two practical goals.
- Bring relevant diagnoses, medication information and questions.
- Explain needle sensitivity, prior reactions and preferences.
- Ask how progress will be reviewed and when a plan would change.
Our first-visit guide for needle-sensitive patients explains what to ask about comfort and consent. Meet Maya Suzuki and Dierdre Mangan, then check directions to the Lakewood office.
Common questions
Do I need a fixed course of treatment?
Ask for an individualized plan and a clear review point. Do not assume a fixed number of visits is required or that improvement is guaranteed.
Can I continue my current medical care?
Keep your healthcare team informed. Do not stop medication or delay an assessment because you have booked acupuncture.
Is this also the guide for pregnancy or children?
Those needs deserve separate conversations. See our prenatal services and pediatric AcuTherapy pages.
